Oceanic Salt & SPS

Oceanic has problems with ph, I have heard this from several people. Tropic Marine Pro Reef is the best salt. Calcium at 430 ph at 8.3 alk at 7 has ALL trace elements found in the ocean. All my sps and soft corals are thriving with this salt. Give it a try.

Way to jump on the TMpro marketing bandwagon.

TM consistenly tests high in copper, titanium, and a bunch of other metals.

They all have some flaw, my TM was always REALLY low in Magnesium (like 900), Mix up one, supplement. Supplements are REALLY cheap.

Kalk is about $20 for 30-50lbs, so is CaCl, and so is MgCl.

Finding one that is consistently the same parameters is most important.

my system pulls Ca and dkh down by 40 and 2 respectively in about 24hrs... so, Ca and dkh levels of salt mixes are almost moot point to me. I'd prefer to see something consistently low than all over the charts. My C-reactor and k-reactor can take care of the rest.

On that note... i test every new bucket of salt i open since they can vary to batch to batch. If you arent doing so, I advise you to start.

IO for me... it is readily available, cheap, and has been around a while.

If i were relying on water changes to maintain my Ca, dkh, & pH parameters, i would probably be a little more picky.

I couldn't agree more. If you don't know what your latest bucket tests - test it. It's your investment/time that you're protecting.
