Oceans Motions question

Hello,

Tank is 400 gallon (84L x 36W x 30H)

I'm planning to use a 4-way and a Sequence Hammerhead.

The diagram shows what I have planned. Does anyone see any concerns?

Thanks!

Nice set up. One thing to look at though is will your overflows handle the pump?
I was running a hammerhead as a return on my 400. It has a single 2" drain. I had a manifold setup of 1" PVC pipe and it worked fine. When I moved the tank and redid my return to 1 1/2" line thru a OM 4 way, my overflow could not keep up with the pump. I'm now downsizing my sump return to a Dart pump, using a Barracuda on a CL w/ the OM 4 way and using a Hammerhead on a second CL that also has a large swimming pool canister filter inline with it.

I do like the setup that you have drawn out. 1 1/2" on the input will be fine but I would run 1 1/2" line on the output as well or you will be causing a lot of restriction and loss of flow.

Ok thanks. I was planning on the dart for my basic sump return. hammerhead on the 4way closed loop.

I don't want things really chaotic just a nice random flow pattern. Will the hammerhead be too much to feed the 3 bottom returns and then the four side returns if they are 1.25" and in rotation with a 4-way?

The 4 way uses 1 1/2" outlets and and 2" inlet. The Hammerhead can use either 2" or 1 1/2". I don't think the pump will be too much flow on a 400. My tank measures 7' L X 2.5' W X 3' T. I was using 2 hammerheads, one for a return as stated eariler and one on a CL with the canister filter.

I'm now going to use a dart on my return, a hammerhead on the CL with the filter and a barracuda on a CL with the 4 way. My sump return is 2 X 1 1/2" over the back w/ 45 degree to point the water towards the corners. The CL hammerhead intakes thru 4 X 1" ports in the center overflow and returns thru 2 X 1 1/2" up thru the bottom. The other CL will feed thru 2 X 1 1/2" intakes on either side of teh center overflow and return thru the 4 way, one 1 1/2" port in the upper corner on the two ends. I'll be using a drum that only opens one port at a time so I can get a back & forth wave action.
