Ocellaris darting around

Ive had my Ocellaris for a year now and he has survived every tragedy from ich to parasites to a seriel killer hawk fish. Yesterday i came home from a 2 week vacation where I had a house sitter who wasnt doing such a great job taking care of the tank while I was gone.. The whole tank had an algae explosion, the water level had evaporated 4 1/2 inches and not been topped off, and I had 7 dead snails that fell off the glass and didnt get turned over. So I immediately get to work cleaning the glass, slowly topping off water and removing dead snails. I sifted the sand with my hand turning all of it over since my Maroon clown pushed it to one side of the tank. (I have never had to sift my sand and move it around like i did) since I did that I have been noticing a strange behavior with my Ocellaris. Not only is she/he being abnormaly brutal to my Maroon clown but the Ocellaris is darting around underneath a rock that hangs over part of the anemone. He/She is also rubbing their stumach over said rock when they dart around. I am wondering if this is some behavior that has anything to do with the water conditions, or could be a desease I need to treat, or could be some weird mating ritual that I havent seen yet.. Anyone have any ideas??

Btw I havent been able to do a water change yet my LFS has been closed. I plan on changing the water as soon as I get off work today.

In moving the sand like that you brought up quite a few items in the water column. It is possible that they are actively irritating the OC.

Thin sand beds are not bad to stir but thicker ones with 'bubbles' are prone to create ammonia spikes. It is from the low O2 level bacteria that lives in it.

Here is a thread that talks about some of it:

There are other threads on here that talk in more detail.

Ick also lives in the sandbed, and on the host fish.
