I received this damsel from my reef friend. The LFS sold it to them as a Springeri damsel which when googled this is not a Springeri. I am classifying it as an Ocellate or Princess Damsel and I was wondering if anybody knew anything more about this fish other than the brief and somewhat dodgy description found on liveaquaria and petsolutions. He is still kinda hiding it out where I just got him yesterday, but he was so pretty and fit the colors in my tank very well.....I am excited and I wanted I do the best I can to give him the care he needs I am not feeding anything different than what my friend was feeding and he has already had him over a month.

I still don't know Chris, as well your fish you found for me is the correct coloration it doesn't have that darned black spot on the dorsal fin.

mmmm.... this one seems awfully close:

(Yeesh, banned sites getting out of hand these days:)

From the descriptions of damsels that look similar to yours (traceyi, talboti), you can probably expect fairly typical damsel behavior - he'll settle in over the next few days and spend more time in the open, should eat anything you feed your tank, and most damsels do well on one feeding per day.

Good luck!

It is definitely not P.Vaiuli (Ocellate damsel).

From the photo it most likely is a C.Traceyi, a new import from the marshall islands.

I'm so jealous! I want this beautiful damsel a lot but it is unobtainable in my country!
