Just wanted to check and see if we ever found out if, when and where the october meeting was going to be. I think the last post was from Tomoko and she was going to talk to Caralline Dream about hosting it in decatur I think.

Yeah. We're about to the halfway mark of October and It'd be awfully nice to know if/when/where the meeting is going to be held this month :D

Hey all. As Tomoko mentioned in another thread, she's working on something for late in October, but it's not finalized yet. Stay tuned.

Hi y'all,

Corallinedream is not quite sure about his schedule for the last two weekends in October at the moment. Instead of keeping up hanging, he wishes to host the meeting in November.

So I need a volunteer for our October meeting. Sorry about the short notice, but sometimes that's just the way things turn out.

Any volunteer for hosting our meeting on October 28th? Or do you have any suggestion about a shop to visit or a place to get together?

Tomoko

Hi again,

Corallinedream seems to be able to do it on 28th after all. He suggests "12:00 Noon on 28th."

He will post the direction to his house shortly.

Tomoko

Howdy folks. Sorry about the confusion on the dates and times.

I've been taking Scuba lessons and couldn't get a firm date from the instructor for my check out dive weekend until just the other day. We are doing that this weekend (weather permitting) so we should be ok.

The plan is to have our October meeting on Saturday October 28th starting at 12:00 Noon at my house in Decatur. We'll start around lunch time so come hungry. I am planning on serving a local favorite, Buffalo Chicken Fingers from Roosters and anything else ya'll wanna bring.

The theme of this meeting will be "Small Systems Maintenance". I have 4 small tanks so I thought that would be appropriate. I will share my experiences, techniques, problems, etc. Tomoko has some videos from a previous MACNA that we will watch also and perhaps we'll end the meeting with another visit to Coral Reef Aquatics in Athens if anyone's interested in doing that.

My tanks are as follows - 46 fish only w/ live rock, 55 emerging reef, 20 gallon & 10 gallon frag tanks).

Please bring any frags, equipment and anything else you'd like to swap or sell. I have digital scales also that I use to weigh out salt mix so if Tomoko brings another big bag of Kalk we can split it up easily.

I'm fragging up some Pink Pulsing Pom-Pom Xenia and some Lemnalia this week so it will ready in time for the meeting. (yes, I know, everybody's got xenia, but really not everyone does and this is a nice variety). Plus if you're just getting started, you could use some free frags, right?

I'll post a Poll in a few days to try and get an idea of how many are planning on coming so watch for that.

I'll also post directions soon on our website http://www.northalabamareefclub.com

My house is really easy to find and is located just 1 mile off of interstate 65 in Decatur (Priceville Area).

If I get rained out this weekend, our backup plan will be to have it the following weekend November 4th (hopefully that won't happen).

Hope to see everyone soon!

Hi y'all,

I am brining a 50lbs container of Peladow (pure calcium chloride - a great calcium booster) to the meeting as I mentioned before. I believe this one costs 70 cents per pound. It's a lot cheaper than Reef Complete, Reef Advantage, Kent Turbo Calcium or any other calcium chloride supplement.

I wonder if anyone still needs the food grade lime (the same stuff as Mrs. Wages but heck of a lot cheaper.) The 50lbs bag I took to the last meeting was gone in a very short time. If anyone needs some, I can get another bag and bring it to the meeting.

Please let me know how much you guys want.

Buzz,

The zoa colony looks beautiful. As for the pompom xenia, I suppose it's your lighting condition that makes it appear white. It turned silverish in one of John Newby's tank as well. My pompom xenia usually looks pink, though.

Tomoko

Tomoko,
Im in for a few pounds of calcium chloride!I still have some lime but maybe meeting after next.Do you know if BeasleBob is still bringing some dead sea magflake.

Thanks
Buzz!

We are definitely on for this weekend (October 28th)!!!

I completed my check out dives this weekend and I'm now officially a PADI Certified Open Diver. Wooo-hooo!

Time to get out the collection bag and catch some goodies. Well, It might be a little while before I'm ready to do that. We'll see.

I look forward to seeing all of you this weekend!
