Octopus FDNW-400 Needlewheel Recirculating Skimmer
who has one and what do you think about it? i am thinking of getting a new skimmer and i think this is the one.... it will be for a 500 gallon system...



i asked this question in the equipment section with no responce. maybe i will get one in here where the bbig boys play!!!!!
 
Octopus is coming out some new external models using the laguna line, or it looks like it might be there own knock off of the lagunas

That FDNW 400 body with two of the new revolution pumps would be about as good as anything on the market IMO, I'd wait and see what happens.
As it sits though that is one heck of a deal for that large of bodies skimmer.
For that price though you are in the same ballpark as the ATB's and reeflo skimmers.
 
Sorry..no experience, but I'm also looking at that same skimmer. I estimate it has a chamber size of 97L...triple that of the Reeflo 250.

At a flow rate of 750gph (1.5x your tank size), you get a dwell time of 2 minutes in a 25g (97L) chamber. That seems like an excellent fit for you...size wise.
