Octopus had babies hatch...now what?

I had recently purchased an octopus about 3 weeks to a month ago. She ate every night, but never came out of the rock. Well several days after she died I noticed at least 1 baby octopus swimming around. Is there any chance of saving the baby? What will it eat? It is only the size of an eraser and am confused if this is normal for an octopus to have babies or not, and what to feed them. Thanks for any help.

Not sure what type it is as my LFS who sold it to me did not know. The mother octopus was only about 3" from tentacles to the top of her head. The babies are only half the size of a pencil eraser. I have seperated them into another tank by themselves. And have tried live baby guppies which are a little big, frozen baby brine (as no one around me has live), and frozen cyclopeeze. The babies get really active after putting either frozen food in, but they are so small I cannot tell if they are eating or not.

Also thanks for the site. I will check that out now. Thanks again.
