Octopus HOB overflowing?

As it says a octopuss bh-100 is overflowing. It won't drain fast enough and the whole thing spills into the floor. any help, or ideas? It has the factory pump which I believe is 250gph w/needle wheel.

no its new I put it in and plugged it in overflow the floor. With that pump a snail would have to be tiny, but I don't have any in the sump.

Try and remove the sponge and see if that helps. It may not be letting enough flow through for whatever reason.

I had this happen to me as well, I think detritus clogged up my sponge. I am going to try to fully remove the sponge tonight when I get home to see if this fixes it.

i was sent an email from coralvue that said to raise the skimmer so that the output was above water level, and to remove the sponge. This is new so no gunk build up yet. I'm going to try again tonight and see wish me luck!

Definately remove sponge. I also lifted the outlet above the waterline and no more overflowing. Thank you all for the help and sugestions. I tested in the sink this time instead of ripping the system apart to install it again. I will install it this weekend.

not sure, I was told it is a bh-100, but it is set up backwards froma normal bh-100, what I mean is the pump is on the left instead of the right, looks like the ss series, but not. both of the standard bh-100, and bh-100ss work the same except the ss has a surface skimmer wich mine doesn't, but is set up like it with the pump on the other side. Making a short story long I'm not exactly sure.
