Octopus NW 150 skimmer depth

Can anyone tell me how deep a water level this skimmer should be sitting in?

The stand I made doesn't really allow for the skimmer to sit on a stand and my plans for the sump have it sitting in @ 12" of water. If this is too deep I can change the baffle height.

What does everyone recommend?

After searching the forums for this answer, there seems to be a lack of knowledge on this topic. How about how deep does everyone put their nw 150 in? See what the consensus is.

12-14 inches.. and I adjust the tube as needed.

Works great, when it was new I had the usual microbubble probs but they've cleared up. Produces dark nasty skimmate that I have to empty about every 5 days or so. Check my gallery..

I thought deep was good as long as it not all the way up to the neck. Someone said the bubbles travel up easier or something like that.
