Usually when I spot an octopus on the reef, he just slides into the nearest crevice, changes color to blend in and stays there, that one weird eye peering out at me. One morning in the Caribbean, I got lucky, and caught one hanging out, and after deciding I was not going to eat him, he decided to play with me and show off some of his best camo tricks. It's fascinating watching him move into a different area and blend in to see if I will catch him. This went on for about 10 minutes, and he kept it up until I looked away for a second, and he won, I couldn't spot him again. If you look closely, you'll see that he lost one of his arms to a predator, and you can see what is left of the valves that help to make his arm function. Check it out here:
