My mesh nw200 is kicking some butt so thought i would post a pic since this thread is where i learned about the mesh :D
Next up i will prob do a venturi mod and possibly recirc it. We will see how motivated i get, as its already pulling some nice nog and theres only 3 small fish in my 150 so far. I did grind out the output piping and smooth the stock venturi but thats all other then the mesh.
Thanks RC!

I do have an issue with it sometimes though, the foam pushes the freaking lid up! also the vent holes can get clogged in the lid from all the skim bubbles. lol all good problems to have i assume :D

just went and tested it for you, i forgot what it was at before.

It was right at 13scfh, which if i remember is low for a modded nw200? but its working good so far. I dont have the best fitting on my meter either so im sure that robs some air from it, just not sure how much.

When i get some time i will mod the venturi with some rodi tubing.

found some pics and looks like my air used to be closer to 14-15. looks like its time for a good cleaning :P

Didnt rinse the sand before adding it to the tank :D
sand anyone ?

tyvm. alright, that's about what i'm pulling but i'm not getting near the foam you are. may i ask where you have the water level set?

the only additional noise you should hear vidrine is an increase in the sucking sound through your airline. anything else means something's wrong. as impur said, either your new mesh wheel is rubbing, something's loose, or your pump is cavitating.

Mine is really quite, i love it. Maybe just a hum from the pump. I do run mine with the stock air silencer.

Sry about the bad pics its hard to get any lower shots as my sumps at just the wrong level lol

This is i guess around 5 min after cleaning it.
I think i lowered it a bit the other day.
pretty sure its usually right around the bottom edge of the cup. (maybe 1/4" - 1/2" higher then it is there)

If the neck is getting to coated then its either to low or your not cleaning it often enough ;)
Get me a pic of yours and i will see if i notice anything, are you getting any skim at all?

ok, that's about where i have it too. tyvm for taking the time. i appreciate it.

i'll attribute the difference to bio load for now..

Hey guys i just bought a hydor pico pump for my 110 recirc skimmer it's rated at 980lph 60cm head pressure and i have turned it down to approximatly half with the tuning knob.

Since installing it i have noticed i'm not get a nice foam.
Plenty of bubbles but no foam on top is this due to the new supply pump? Or is the pump the wrong size?

Do you think i should give the pump and the skimmer a vinegar bath? i have never done this since i bought it?

demo...it will take a little while for all of the oils and stuff to where off of the new pump. If it's already in the tank, theres no need to tear it all down and vinegar bath it...just give it some time for it to break in good.

other than tearing my whole skimmer and pump apart, anbody have any ideas? i am in need here and hope someone can tell me atleast where i might buy the piece i need, or somebody have a skimmer that they modded to sell me their piece.... please help....

You won't be able to find that anywhere local as it's all metric. You can try premium aquatics, or marinedepot.com...they both sell octopus, and I believe are stocking replacement parts. Although a mod probably wouldn't be that hard.

IME it takes a day or two to start working better...I'm not faimiliar with the hydor pico pump, so I can't say for sure.

Kurt/Porthios-- not really fair to compare skimmate from a tank with new unrinsed sand to an established aquarium (although it is impressive). Wait to it settles down a bit.

After my mesh mod and venturi mod- my pump is still as quite as can be --without the silencer.

My skimmer seems to be working a little better every day. Currently have the water level at just above the body. Looks like this skimmer takes at least a couple of weeks to break in even after a vinegar bath.

Has anyone tried to lower the tee where the output of the pump is? Seems like there is alot of wasted space where there are no bubbles at the bottom of the skimmer. I was thinking of putting a 45 degree fitting on the clear tube that runs to the tee to get the tee a little lower. Is that clear tube metric? Anyone try this or something else to get the discharge lower?
