Odd convict tangs- aberrant?

Just got back from Hawaii. There are lots of wild convict tangs. I found some odd-looking ones, though, ones that are sort of dusky and/or have spots. Are these aberrant tangs, or just a Hawaiian coloration? This is along the coastline of Kaua'i, the island they call the Garden Island. I saw these in other spots, but the ones I photographed were all at a spot on the south side. It's a really neat spot, only about 5' deep in the deepest areas, lots of fish despite a lack of large rock outcroppings and such. Several dozen convicts around here, among other things. Not shy convicts, either, they mostly just ignored me.

I particularly liked this one. Big guy with a few knife-scars on his side, obviously been in a few fights.

All five of the dusky ones near the bottom are that color, and so is the one on the far right. The other three looked about normal color, though maybe slightly more on the silver side.

And here's a moorish idol and a lizardfish, just because. I was actually trying to photograph the lizard, the moor just happened to pop up. There were plenty of these, all pretty things. Apparently Hawaii is where to go for moors.

Anyone seen convicts like that? Are they considered aberrant tangs?
