Odd cup coral

I've had a turbinaria in the aquarium for over 6 months now and it opened up completely within the first 5 minutes it was place in the water, but by the next day all of the polyps closed up and have refused to open up once ever since. the odd thing is that the base colour remains bright yellow and it is definetly alive, (the polyps can be seen closed up) and i have tried moving it around a few times to different condtions of lighting and water flow but nothing seems to work, any advice would be awesome and much appreciated :)

First of all thanx spleify, an as for the aquarium, lighting- 4 bulb t5's, livestock 4 reef safe fish, astrea and nassarius snails, blueleg hermits, sandsifting stars, a couple of other mixed corals (the turbinaria is next to an encrusting montipora and a Caulastrea) and ive tried a few spots with more or less water flow with no notable change in behavior

I've had a turbinaria sit stagnant for months while I moved it around searching for a sweet spot. When I finally just let it sit for a month and forgot about it, it took off. I generally ahve seen better results with lower light and heavier flow.

Coral beauty's are known coral pickers. There are those that dont and those that do. I would atleast consider it, and keep a close eye on it from a distance so the fish is acting naturally.

I have a turbinaria that was very happy for several months after I got it, but then stayed closed up tight for the last 4 or 5 months. About a month ago I moved it into a shaded area with decent flow, and suddenly a week ago it started opening up again. They seem to be pretty picky.

Does it open at night or have you checked? Mine definitely is more extended at night. Like others have said mine is low in the tank with decent flow.

When mine was acting up, I checked on it at night. It still had zero polyp extension. I was surprised it survived without ever opening up.
