Odd problems adding EB4 and additional EB8

So I bought a Apex a while back and have loved it, not sure how I lived without one now. Zero problems whatsoever. I decided to buy an additional EB8 and an EB4 to have enough outlets for everything.

And now the troubles begin.. when I added the 2nd EB8 it continuesly reboots. It lags out the controller reeeeeally bad as well. Accessing it through the PC is slower then AOL 1.0 on a rotary phone modem. The temputure and ph go bezerk and reads 154 degrees and like 14ish ph.

After a few attempts I managed to get the software version on the eb8 up to 009. I also updated the controller to the latest firmware. Interestingly enough when you disconnect that EB8 the temp/ph return to normal and the controller access works as usual. Changing the bus locations around seemed to help at first, but eventually the EB8 started rebooting again and sometimes the controller itself would reboot. I read online that possibly a misconfigured outlet/program might be causing a loop and tying up the process causing the really bad lag. I finally got ****ed off and unplugged the new EB8 and went to bed. The next evening I plugged it for S&G and to my surprise it worked perfectly. I did a quick config on the outlet names and some very basic setup and all seemed to work well.

So then I dug out the trusty new EB4 and plugged it in... It started a rebooting loop itself as well as the 2nd EB8, and the controller access lag started again. Manged to update the EB4 software to 009 eventually but it kept doing the same thing the EB8 was doing the night before. So I unplugged it all and went to bed. Both EB8's ran fine all night long. This morning I plugged in the EB4 and it went back to rebooting both again. :mad2:

Any suggestions?

So I come home from work and the apex controller just randomly decided to shut off the 1/2 the outlets on the new eb8 bar that had my main pump and skimmer etc on it. Caused a nice little flood since it for some reason decided to leave the chiller pump on.

Figures I spend $750 bucks to add some failsafes and maybe prevent such disastors and instead it gives me exactly what I bought it to prevent..

So after reviewing everything it seems the apex created an additional phantom eb8 and used the defaults for a new one as the outlet settings. Did an initialize all but the extra eb8 remained. Manually deleted them all, did another initilize all and it appeared to work correctly however the temp and ph were still way off and the interface seemed to run a bit sluggish. I removed the eb4 totally and the temp/ph readiings corrected themselves back to normal oddly enough. Redid basic outlet names/setup for the 2 eb8's and those 2 "seem" to be working correctly now.

Guessing I have a bad eb4? Dosen't really make sense tho because the eb8 did the same things then mysteriously corrected itself.

Anyone have any ideas? Kinda paranoid to leave the thing running unattended now =/

When the EB4 was plugged in did it show a power fail for it all the time?

Not sure where to check that?

Current status shows

Power Failed: May 06 2011 21:59:12
Power Restored: May 06 2011 22:00:23
Power OK: EB8_3 (0 Days 00:37 - 4.7 Amps)
Power OK: EB4_4 (0 Days 00:07 - 0.0 Amps)
Power OK: EB8_6 (0 Days 00:01 - 0.0 Amps)

So as I watch this status window I notice the 2nd eb8 power seems to fail quite often, like once a minute almost
Power Failed: May 06 2011 21:59:12
Power Restored: May 06 2011 22:00:23
Power OK: EB8_3 (0 Days 01:13 - 8.6 Amps)
Power OK: EB4_4 (0 Days 00:43 - 1.6 Amps)
Power Fail: EB8_6 (0 Days 00:00)

What can cause that? A bad EB8?

Tech suppport for neptune goes to voicemail, sent them an email hoping for a callback

I had a similar issue.

Added EB8 updated the firmware and everything was fine. Updated to lastest beta firmware and got two displays and 4 EB8's.
Went back to stable firm ware still rebooting all the time.
Left if alone for a day and everything worked fine.
Next day the second display was back, deleted it and everything was fine for a few days.

Added an EB4, pH and ORP reads lower than what is really is.
ORP reading drops to 0 over night if I do not have an outlet set to ON on the EB4. Some times still reads 0 but not all night long.

pH and ORP always seem to jump around, final choice to figure out what is going on was to send controller back. Ordered a new controller base and it should be here tuesday. I will let you know how it goes.

Unplugged the 2nd EB8 and I've had zero problems with the original eb8 and new eb4.
Power Failed: May 07 2011 23:38:59
Power Restored: May 07 2011 23:39:37
Power OK: EB8_3 (1 Days 11:48 - 8.6 Amps)
Power OK: EB4_4 (1 Days 11:48 - 6.1 Amps)
A day and a half with no reboots. I'm leaning towards thinking I've got a bad EB8.

I emailed Curt the ip address to do some diagnostics, waiting to see what he finds now
