Odyssea Fixtures?

I have 2 of their pc lights. Both have twin 65watt bulbs and built in cooling fans. I can only state what I know to be true. The fans are not the best in the world. I replaced the first one of mine after about six months of use. The bulbs, especially the blue actinics tend to shift spectrums after only a short amount of time. The wiring could be alot better than hat it is. I also would feel better if the lights were U.L. approved. (safety aspect)With all this being said, no they are not the most fantastic lights in the world and they were never designed to be. They were designed to target a particular price point in the aquarium hobby market. Are they as good as Current or Hamilton? Nope. Do they work? Yep, mine work fine for now..... I would suggest if you buy the lights, go ahead and spring for some better bulbs and inspect the connections on the wiring. For the money, they were what I could afford at the time and have served their purpose. Don't expect Mercedes quality when you are paying a Yugo price.

IMO...I would add a fire extinguisher to your order with those lights. I have to say that I do not own them but I have read about them in RC. If you can, do a search and you will find more suggestions such as my own.

I own the 36" ho/t5 fixture and love it. The bulbs arent the greatest, but they got me by for a while with decent coral coloration, and growth. Now its time to replace the bulbs and ive ordered geissmans, wich will probabally work out even better. As for the wiring...i see nothing wrong with it, of course im not an electrician either so i wouldnt know what to look for. Mine's been very reliable, and i plan to buy another for my new tank in progress.

Before buying on screw-bay check the aquatraders.com website, I ordered mine on a sunday night and they were at my door by wednesday.

I bought the 260w PC Odyssea and thought I was happy, until I bought the 108w Odyssea t5 and the 108w t5 is brighter than the 260w PC, then I bought 250w MH and the MH is brighter than the t5 and pc put together. I will now work at going all MH, I wish I had gone all MH to begin with, just my exerience with Odyssea.

Just make sure you have homeowners insurance, you'll be fine as long as you have full replacement coverage on your home.
