odyssea lighting good?

I've read many mixed reviews about the old odyasea models but nothing recent. I've found a 406 watt set up for pretty cheap which of course made me do some extra research. Anyways anyone have amy recent experience with odyssea? I've attached the pic from the advertisement.

Always pay for what you get.

I would determine if you really need MH and if not then perhaps find a T5 fixture with LED to give the shimmering.

I owned a oddysea fixture for almost 2 years and didn't have any problems with it. It's an outer orbit clone basically. The ballasts are inefficient but work and do grow corals. I would buy one again if it needed another light though.

I've owned three Odyssea MH fixtures. Each generation is better that the preceding. I purchased the 24" version of the fixture in your picture three or four months ago. It is a very solid light fixture. Only complaint is that the blue moon LEDs could be a bit brighter.

ive owned 3 , sold 2 a few months ago still working great after 2 years . i still run the one on my current setup hung in the top of the hood for a dawn dusk light and dont have anything bad to say besides the bulbs in the mh are yellow'r than others . i ordered a 14,000k 150watt hqi bulb and its super yellow ... if you have the ckoice go 20k . they get pretty ******* hot but what doesnt with a few hundred watts running through it ??

I have mixed feelings. I have the 24" version on my 29 gal bowfront. It has been great "for the price". I bought it 3 years ago. The actinics are power compacts. Last year, both of the PC ballasts went out at the same time. When I opened the fixture, I realized how poorly it was wired. (I am an electrician) The wiring was garbage. I changed out the cheesey PC ballasts and swapped the power cord. I grounded everything much better and made some wiring mods. It's been great since. So, it's been a good light for me but I have the ability to repair it if needed.
Yes, I would buy another one if I were "budgeting". I'm not looking at Odyssea for my new tank though.
