Officer Nomanations and Feb meeting

As most have heard we have our nominations/elections in Feb and March. After some of the input we have received we would like to try to make the Feb meeting a Social meeting and a formal election. We are looking into having the meeting at a public place. The place we are looking at first glance is Jim 'N Nicks but that is not firmed up yet.

The date will be the last weekend in Feb. Our intentions will be to start a thread in all the forums that people can nominate themselves or someone else to the open positions. This will run the month of Feb with people who can not make the Feb meeting can do Absentee ballet by e-mail too me. I will not disclose any persons vote or the results until we add the ballet boxes. Each paid member gets one vote so you will have to renew your membership to vote and hold office. Before we vote though we will have a piece of time for any nominated candidate to debate each other :) or just give there official policy stance on what they would like to do for the club.

I know in the past we have had a lot of uncontested elections. I would like to voice my opinion on this. I think we need mare then 4 people to have a functional BOD and I think we need some competition and differences. If you are one who has voiced opinions on the direction of the club this is your chance to be part of a solution not just talk about it.

More details will be coming on the Feb meeting in a Different thread. I will try to post a poll for the date and will try to go with the majority.

I agree with Wayne..progress and change (if thats your desire) happens with action, and not just talking. Now is a chance to act, for without action, nothing will progress or change.

I am going to talk it over with my wife. I have been toying with the idea, however I need to make sure I can dedicate the time. tomorro we go back to the doctor to see if she will need another surgery on her knee or not.

I agree with you Wayne. If I could reference the colligate Greek system, I think a position of "Social Chair" is appropriate as we are a social club. This position could help facilitate group outings and meetings. This individual would ideally have excellent contact and communication with a majority of club members and therefore help represent the thoughts and desires of the club members in BOD meetings. This person could also help in getting the word out about the swap and other club events.

We can do that also I always thought that and also think there should be an IT position and also one for community involvement. The IT would be in charge of making the changes to the web site and would help police the web site. the community person would build the bridges with the stores, schools and other public places. This would bring the BOD to 7, the million dollar question is can we get that many people to agree to serve?

If it is the will of the Members we can make this change before the elections to get a full BOD in place. I would take any input on this either private or public.

I like this idea Wayne cause both positions make sense...

Well that is what they have been in the past and I think in my opinion they should also have a vote in the club that way you have a larger group to look at the things going on. I know on some of our meetings if one or two people could not get to the meeting then you would just have two people making decisions. Having a BOD of 7 would lower the posiabilities and also make a odd number to the BOD I know every decision we made we had all agreement on but that may not happen all the time. Wit the size of the club over 100 members and coffers the size we have I think 7 is a good number.

Thank you for the people who have pm'ed me on your sugestions I will continue to take imput on this and will talk to the BOD on how to proceed.
