Official Auction News

Due to the lack of volunteers and other other circumstances beyond our control, I have no choice but to announce the cancellation of the auction event at the August 26th swap.

The swap and table sale will go on as planned. Doors will open at 1Pm to give you time to set up. which means there will be no disruption for those of you setting up tables and the line up for demos and topics this month is great and will prove informative to old and new reefers alike.

What a shame :(

Dang and I had it all planned out to come down from Lancaster Ohio keep us all updated for the next one ours is 0ct 14th in cloumbus check out the CORA SIGHT ON HERE Thanks

That is a shame since so many people have looked forward to an auction. Maybe next time more volunteers will step forward. Will we be able to get the auctioneer for next time? If so we can start recruiting volunteers at this meeting.

I will know more about the auctioneers credentials in a few days but it is unfair to wait so long as some had made plans to come to this meeting for the auction.

However i will add the table sales are just as good as auctions IMO and some great coral frags go for good prices. So if you are planning on showing up you won't be disappointed just because of the loss of one particular event which we have'nt had for over 2 years now anyway :)

Yes Lana, if the credentials can be verified and we can find at least 5 volunteers to step up, we will indeed be having an auction for the October meet (my favorite one of the year).

ever think of doing a silent auction???? Don't think you have to have an auctioneer for one of those.....wish I could be there but out of town again this time. Ron is good at scheduling this thing on the same W/E as my Wirt Co. trip.

Sorry to hear that Ron. I know everyone was looking forward to it. The only good thing out of this is.....I wasn't able to come so I'm not going to miss a new event to our meeting. (I know you had them before but it has been a long time). I'll have to get my soccer tournament dates aligned so I don't have to miss any meetings! Parkersburg has one soccer tournament yearly.....you guessed it 8/25 & 26! McCrady Jones Tournament.....any reefers coming this way?

I did not want to say anything since I was not able to be there this time. We have discussed this many times. The same dedicated people volunteer meeting after meeting to make it work and enjoyable for all. It is a shame more folks are unwilling to volunteer to help. Not to be mean but there is never a problem in getting a big crowd at our meetings. People come to get in on the great frag prices, awesome door prizes, and other nice prizes like the tunze powerhead.

Maybe we should get a list of volunteers and rotate them every other meeting. Say it's your responsibility to help out this month and the next meeting it's the next person's time. Rotate in and out and if you can not do your time call someone to trade with them. It's a real pain in the rear asking, and reasking to get some help! We had a volunteer sheet and many agreed to help out. I think it fell to the wayside since we took off the summer. Let's get out the info collected and revisit it to make it work out for all. Someone NEEDS to be in charge of contacting volunteers and rotating people in and out so the burden gets shared and we all enjoy the benefits.

I personally, would like to see a "Volunteer Organizer!!!

We might try it to see if we get some needed help. A couple hours donated every 120 days shouldn't be too much to ask. Just my 2 cents worth.

I love the club but it takes BOTH---work and time to make it a successful event. We were on a roll and growing fast! We spaced our meetings out to allow for friends and family time over the summer! It's time to get the meetings in high gear!

I am very disappointed I have to miss this meeting. I look forward to the success of our club and meeting with all of you next time!

Make it happen, that's your new title and position.

Looks like a good idea to me, do it, and get participation.
Volunteer Organizer would be a great position for you, I'm sure the council will agree
