oh my, poor planning!

It would have been wise of me to have done some better planning before I built a stand for my 29g tank - I now have only 21.5" of height available for a skimmer that I will place inside my 10g glass sump. That seems to limit my options rather dramatically, mostly to the nano skimmers. It seems that when I do find an attractive skimmer that will fit, there is no room left to remove the collection cup. Aarg! Can anyone recommend a decent skimmer in the $100 - $150 range (or less) that will fit inside my sump and cabinet? So far all I have found is the Tunze Nano - I'd love to have more options to consider!

iwishtofish,

why not just add an extension on the bottom and raise the stand to whatever size you need, thats what I would do,

oh and don't worry about bad planning, lol, there will always be something you want to change later, :D

Unfortunately, Samsfishnchips, my stand is a wooden box with fixed shelves that can't be adjusted. Zestay, I'll look for that thread. Thanks!

I second the viaaqua sk200 and the tunze, although it would have to be a 9002 to be under $150. Check out the via aqua skimmer club for more on the via aqua skimmer.

Thanks for bringing my attention to the Via skimmers! They are a great size vertically, but have too big a footprint to be in my 10g sump, and I don't think they can be plumbed for external use (would be glad to learn that I am wrong). The Tunze 9002 seems like my best option for in the sump. Has anyone heard if it is efficient enough to consider? It seems awfully small.

I would think the 9002 could handle a 29 gallon tank, as long as you are not packing fish in there like sardines:)
