i went home and my plumbing has a small leak right under the bulkhead on my overflow. it's about 1 drip every 4-5 secs. is there anything i can do or use to stop it? i don't want my floor soaked and i can't take my plumbing apart the way i have everything right now. aquarium silicone won't work because it takes so long to cure and it just won't stop the leak because it will stay wet so it won't cure. anything that will stop the leak in a short amount of time?

short term, you can dry pushing some thick grease into the crack and see if that will seal it up. and if so, then clean off the excess and then press silicon up into the crack and work a bead around the pvc.

i have read that there are certain silicones at lowes by GE that are reef safe and it is thincker than aquarium silicone but i can't remember which one

the only long term option is to take apart the plumbing. you will have to turn off your sump, and drain the overflow. then fix the problem. you may get away short term with using some of the 2 part epoxy thats used for holding frags, and rocks. HD and Lowes sells it as well. its in the plumbing department, and Lowes carries the Loctite brand with their adhesives. but again any fix other than taking apart the plumbing is just a short term fix more than likely.

just to correct....there is no silicon at lowes, hd or anywere else that will adhere to a wet surface, regardless of thickness.
