ohclereef01's 33Long Mixed Reef Build

Without going into a lot of sad detail.. dinoflagellates really took its toll on the tank twice.. it was a really sad battle and with all the research I did experiments of high PH extra aireation premo skimming etc they really hurt the tank and choked out almost everything.. Tank is still alive.. my clowns are still alive.. what troopers! The RBTA I picked up from a local reefer has split into 4 now.. the 'mini-carpets' never got any bigger but they sure did multiply! I probably have 30 or so now.. I will probably start selling some off as they have a good pyramid scheme going on in my tank at this point.. Tank has been fairly stable for 6+ months now .. Someone asked for a picture / size of the carpet so here is a pic of how big they are now.. they never really got any bigger than 1.5" or so..

Welp, I dont have a place to host the image to upload it at this time.. When I get back to my pc I'll update with an image..

I'm sorry about your tank troubles, and glad the clowns are still swimmin'! That's cool your RBTA has split so many times.
TY for a pic of the mini carpets.

Its been a while since I've updated or done much with the tank. Its still up! Doing a lot better now, the dino has been gone for quite some time now. I took a vid of the serpent star playing with a crab then a 'full tank view'. Only some lps / zoos left after the dino, the anemone has split as I said in my last post. Clowns are really happy they each have an anemone to play in.

I should have read about flow volume & size of pipe before I drilled for the closed loop. 1/2" is not cutting it even with a Pan World 50PX-X. I ordered some Koralia evolution- 2x 750gph and 1x 550gph and their wave maker. Not sure what flow will be like so I got a combination of volume for options. I'll probably hook the wave-maker its self up to my AquaControler Apex and only run it while the lights are on.

Looking forward to putting some SPS in the tank once I get the flow dialed in. Chemistry has been good for some time now manual dosing BRS additives. I do have a big swing in pH at night esp now that its getting cooler 'tight house' syndrome but it doesn't seem to bother anything. I've also read that this happens in the wild as well.
