Well first and foremost. I'm finally able to set up my profilux controller after waiting for my new tank for over 6 months. Well I took everything out of there boxes and started to set things up. Well I came across setting up the 2 digital powerbars, and I couldnt find any any wires to connect them to the controller!!!!

Next I upgraded my controller and also added the WLAN. I can not get it to connect to my laptop. I have the newest software and firmware on my laptop if that matters or not.

Now I have the 4 unit dosing station. I noticed on the back of it there are 2 inputs jacks. And mine only came with one connector jack. Why is that ?

Nick,
First thing: DID YOU READ MENUAL!!!!?
Second: cables comes together with power bars, they grey in color..

I thought I didnt get the cable either. You have to check the box good mine was stuck under the flap on the opposite side of the box that I opened.
The two jacks are for daisy chaining the units together.

ALL power bars come with cables, if the power bars are without the brown boxes and you were supplied within a kit then they will be in the box. If the power bars were still in the original box (often removed for smaller shipping) then they will be stuck fast in the bottom of the power bar box.

You only need one connector jack the other socket is for daisy chaining

After reading your email about plugging power bars into L ports, PLEASE (and said very kindly ;) ) spend an evening with the manual.

It is so easy to rip open everything throw the manual to the dog and dive in and then get in one awful mess of confusion. I know it goes against us men to read a manual but in this case it is paramount especially in regards to what goes where.

Once you have got a USB adapter or the PLM-USB card (best option) let us know on here and we all can guide you from there

nICK, dont worry.. i spend more then one evening ..:)
No worrys bro, ill have you up and running..

you may need to use the profiLux new USB driver if the one that came with the serial adapter does not connect.

Keep me posted

follow what Mike advises for now.

You must also go to your devise manager and find what port the software is sitting on i.e COM 1-2-3-4-5-etc.

Best to unplug the profilux from the laptop and plug it back in also

Ok well its still not working. I dont understand why you didnt tell me that you guys sell a connection instead of me going out and buying one when you guys have problems with them. Now I have this connection cable for a desktop that cost $20 I cant use and a usb convertor that cost $40 that because it comes with software they wont take back and im out that $40. $60 worth of cables and nothing works.

we did in email .

Until you have the serial adapter so you can connect to the laptop life will be difficult. I personally would opt for the PLM-USB card these are most stable than adapters but up to you. Also if computer illiterate the WLAN could be quite the set up head ache and we will worry about that once you establish the basic connection.

As you said in your reply email "We are both computer illiterate" so the problem will not be helped, but we are here to help

heres your PM

If you laptop is new it may not have an RS232 port and will require an adapter that you can get at any good computer store, they are not expensive

Regards
Michael
