OK, another majestic angelfish question

for people with majestic angelfish experience, what types of coral will they leave alone and what are considered snacks to these guys. I still would like a nice colorful angel in my tank. (I have the Melanospilos, but I'd like a more colorful one, would a majestic get along?).

*sigh* I have pictures of the big angels in my office, would like one in my tank :).

a majestic angel will get along with melanospilos. majestic angels are pretty shy for an angelfish, at least in the beginning when it goes into a new tank so make sure your tank provides hiding spots for it. it should open up after a couple of weeks.

this is my majestic swimming side-by-side with my french angel.

i don't have experience with them in a reef tank but i've heard that it tends to leave sps alone.

That's a gorgeous fish, was wondering about zoas, will it eat my zoa's? It can eat all the sponge it wants :).

Zoa's may or may not be safe. If it ever decides to sample one once they all will be gone, but maybe it won't. I agreed they leave SPS alone, but may pick at some LPS. It truly is hit or miss, most of the time they will be just fine, but sometimes they won't. It just depends how much you want to risk.

Zoas are not likely to be safe. Angels tend to love the fleshy stuff. I know when they went into my tank a the xenias were gone the next day.

Mine leaves all of my soft corals alone, and has never touched any of my lobophyton, sarcaphyton, and sinularia leathers. It also leaves my rhodactis alone, I have several species, but did tear up all of the actinodiscus shrooms I tried to put in the tank.

This is because all the corals you list that aren't eaten are very noxious and do not taste good to the fish.

OK fingers crossed and going to give it a shot. Found a smaller one at a black Friday sale today. Hopefully it's price tag won't go up with any coral ingestion.
