Friggin cry baby. A little strep throat, projectile vomiting and flesh eating bacteria and folds like a lawn chair!

hey, isn't that your front yard on fire?

And don't ask what I'm doing...Okay you broke me, not even a water board in sight! Putting up Christmas lights outside and for you folks up North...sweating my arse off while doing it.

I figured I better get them up before it was time to take them down.

What is it with old people moving to Florida and complaining about the heat? If putting up lights makes you sweat then pay Juan the pool boy to do it! Also, in Florida, real rednecks don't take their lights down. What are you, new?

You stuck in ME Harleyguy?

:hmm2: :hmm2: :eek2: :eek2: ROFL

Ya I'm stuck, at least for another 5 months

jnarowe, I was wanting to ask you, how do you like the 36" depth on your tank? Has it been a pain, and if you had to replace the tank would you go that deep again?

good question. It all depends on the type of installation. But having the deep tank does make it more difficult to keep clean and work with corals. But the size is nice in terms of the overall effect from the viewing side.

I would go shallower or much deeper. Shallower makes it easier. Much deeper does as well. If you have a massive tank, deeper is better because then you can get in and keep it clean. You can also have lighting that doesn't illuminate the bottom, keep it bare, and not have to deal with corals, sand, etc. down low. If I were to do a massive tank, that's what I would do.

So to answer your question, yes, it's a PITA in some respects. Because of my low overhead and the way the tank is installed, I have to lay on top of the tank for any major maint. job. But there is fun in that too, like a wet belly, the chance of the Foxface getting romantic, and of course, the beautiful views. When you do lay on my tank, it's like skin diving.

Th eissue is that makes maint. chores inconvenient which can result in problems. If I was to do it again, I really would consider a 30" tank.

Thanks, it’s a tough decision. I have always wanted a 36" deep tank, but now I'm questioning myself. My tank will have access all the way around and I will have my lights on a rack that I can raise and lower. On that note, how are the 3x1000w Mh's working out for you? Do you think you could have gone with several 400's and been fine? I'm considering 8x400's.

I could have gone with 12 x 400w but that would have been more electricity and replacement cost. They really do well on my tank so I have to say I am very happy with that choice. Of course, I wouldn't use them on a shallower tank unless they were hung fairly high up.

Corals love them. The fish get spooked sometimes when they move. Overall I like the look from the viewing side too. Some people might not. Still no knock-and-talk, so I guess the cops don't care either.

Who you takin' to Willis? Not old and lived here most of my life. As for a redneck...that's a very exclusive club that will not extend me a membership.

As far a sweating... I could sweat naked, in a snowstorm, watching Juan the pool boy do it! If I was with Harleguy...I'd melt!

The cops probably see what your posting and think HELL NO
Hop's probably warned them about you :crazy1:

That beer and chilli sounds good, shame you can't make it :(

Cheers

Chris

chili and beer over at Sherman's can take a man's life. And since mine is currently at the halfway mark, I have to be careful.

Speaking of chili, what did you think of that can I gave you the other day Sherman?

Not old and lived here most of my life...

Can of Chilli?!?...OMG I should shoot you now and put you out of my misery because the answer can't be GOOD! :D good canned chiili is an oxymoron!

I accept my condition and have been recovering for awhile now.

If I'm old...what's that make you?

Hey! I resemble that! I used lean Angus steak, rice, various beans, fresh jalapeños, sweet onion, garlic, and all kinds of tomatoes. It is really good! Chris, it's really as close as you can get to heaven on earth! Besides, I serve it with Alaskan Smoked Porter, Arrogant Bastard Ale and tequila! How can you go wrong?

Jonathan, for being ready in one minute is pretty darn good!

mrcrab, shouldn't you be in bed? Friggin old people I tell ya. . . .

Between Steve (the man without a real country) and mrcrab (he who is old but won't admit it), I don't know who's more sensitive.

Jonathan, why would you need 12 400w lights over your tank? Aren't the dimensions 8' x 4' x 3'? I would think 8 would have been enough.

My own tank is 30" tall, and at times I wish it was a few inches less. I can't reach to the substrate when something needs moving or if I drop something. Forceps are used often for those last few inches.

Now that sounds good Sherman. Next time drop a bottle of the ASP in it while it's cooking and it will be perfect!

old...You're only as old as the woman you feel. That's why I walk around with a pocket full of candy! ;) Now, where's the 25 yo asian hottie...Viva, vivaaaa, Viagra!!!!
