OK, so I just bought a bunch of Petco fish with ICH.

YES YES... I know better and could even see the ICH spots on the fish before I bought them. Even if the spots weren't visible, you already know all their fish have ICH anyway. I just wanted some cheap fish and didn't want to pay for overnight shipping.

I usually order from the best (Live Aquaria). I just wanted to see if I could effectively treat the ICH and kill it from these Petco fish. I'm prepared to wait for 3-4 months to make sure it's dead. I'm in no hurry.

Now my question...should I use Copper first in my QT and then Parazipro or OR the other way around. I want them to be disease free. Also, How many water changes after Parazipro? I just set my QT up again about a week ago with DT water and have plenty of sponge filters and other stuff for filtration in my sump. Tank is a 29/G with a Aquaclear 110 HOB filter.

Any suggestions??

If you know they have Ich, I would begin copper treatment first. List the fish you bought so we know if any are copper sensitive species. FWIW; a few weeks ago I almost bought a Pinktail Trigger with Ich from Petco to experiment on. But then I figured I'd get attached to it and that would be the start of another tank.....

2 Ocellaris and 1 tomato clown...in bad shape. Maroon clown doing the worst...he is about to die I think....Should I try copper immediately with him?

Damsels doing well...

You sure this isn't Velvet? All are good candidates for copper. I would f/w or formalin dip the Maroon, just in case this is Velvet. Begin copper treatment ASAP.

Well, the Maroon just died. I thought maybe I had time to save him. I'm not sure if it's Velvet, how can you tell the difference. Will copper kill Velvet too?

Will copper kill Velvet too?

Yes. But Velvet kills faster. Meaning, copper may not work in time to save them. Velvet looks just like Ich, but the dots are gold colored and usually more numerous (as in, all over the fish). With Velvet, a f/w dip or formalin bath may provide some temporary relief. Whereas with Ich, they have no effect.

Man, I did the Parazipro first before I ask this question. :-( My logic there was to let them adapt for a few days while the Parazipro was working and get them eating and then hit them with the Copper since Copper is harder on them.

However, after looking at them under my lighting and judging how fast that maroon died even after I dripped acclimated for 2-3 hrs, I think I better take your good advice and start Copper now.

Do I need to discard all the water? Or could I get away with a WC or will it even matter?

You can actually mix copper & Prazi. The only downside is mixing the two may reduce Prazi's effectiveness.

OK awesome, Ima go for it. I don't care about the effectiveness at this point. I'll dose later after the ICH is more under control.

One of my other clowns is breathing rapidly. Picture coming in a couple minutes. :-)

Ohh and forgot I got a Scooter Blenny too.

RIP MAROON... :-( He was going to die in Petco, but I figured I would try. You can see the ICH infestation on him. Sniff Sniff

Just set up a JBJ ATO to keep Copper stable. Will start testing after tomorrow for therapeutic level and maintain it.

Can't tell from the pic whether the dead Maroon has Ich or Velvet.

What kind of substrate is that? It will likely absorb some of the copper.....

Not your question, but you could never keep these clowns together for long. Once they start to mature, clowns don't tolerate any other clown, other than its mate.

Although I admire your compassion, you just sentenced 6 more fish to their graves per petcos ordering policy. Best to get them for free or leave them at the store.

Naw, these will make it. I've done it before. It's been a while though..got to refresh my mind on copper tx.

You are missing the point...

It is the massive denial of you folks that really makes my stomach turn... now that I am no longer working in the private sector and work with an AZA accredited institution, I actually would not mind a ban on all commercial imports.

No YOUR missing the point people may do what they choose. Who are you to regulate what people choose to do with their hard earned money.

You obviously have no clue how close the animal rights groups, and the US government EPA congress etc are to shutting the industry down, and places like petco and people that do not understand the importance of choosing ethical places and paying a little more vs a rotting company that has killed millions of fish without blinking an eye...
Go educate yourself before making comments like that. If you knew me, you would know that i am a huge proponent of the free market, however, we need to regulate ourselves like the dive industry did otherwise we are going to all get shut down.
