OK to use dried sea fan?

Saw a dried sea fan that I thought would look nice against my background, are these ok to use in a fowlr? Generally, are these collected responsibly? Dont want to encourage irresponsible collection.

Some of these purchased item are bleached and/or coated with things. I'd be leary unless you found it washed up at the beach.
 
They are not collected responsibly and it will start to rot if you put it in your aquarium.If we are talking about the gorgonian seafans that are elastic.If its a stony type it should be ok thogh i doubt you can get thoose for sale (im refering at the precious corals).
 
Putting dried or bleached collected critters into a marine tank is not a good thing. If they don't rot they get algified. Wait and get the real thing that's alive. Unless it's a starfish, which is not reef-friendly.
