Ok what now!

Most reefs are around 35ppt or 1.025. With variations due to evaporation in areas like the red sea or in areas with a fresh water source near bye like a river coming into a lagoon. But the standard across the board seem to be 35ppt or 1.025. Anything higher without an ATO can cause the salinity to creep out of acceptable parameters.

Update. Found the other brittle star still alive. All the turbos (astria) seemed to have died causing a more aggressive ammonia spike (now at 1.0).All the other snail are fine. Cerith and nessarius are still cruising around. Hermit crabs and shrimp are fine.

All in all I lost 3 chromis, brittle star and the turbos, so far. All the corals seem to by recovering except the monti and the polyps/zoas, but some of the polyps have opened. Favia and Lobo seem fine.

I can not find any pods anywhere in the tank or sump. This explains the initial ammonia spike. Added a bottle of bacteria tonight. I will be doing another water change in the next couple of days (have to buy more salt) and will then introduce some reefstew/pods. Maybe grab some loaded live rock from somewhere to get some of those interesting hitchhikers.
