anyone go to OOA for their 'SUPER BOWL" SALE.Some very nice corals but the fish prices and stock left alot to be desired.Worth the trip for the cleanup crew and corals though.Anyone else out there go????

I refuse to buy from them ever since they changed owners. I liked it when it was called Sea Shell. Most workers at that shop have an attitude.

Didnt know about it unil you mentioned it. I will go today and get peppermints and snails. Thanks!

mbunaman- I completely agree. I've alomost thought about swinging on those guys in there. I have never been so disrespected and blown off in my life, anywhere.

It's a nice store to go and visit but just make sure you ignore the employees and and don't look at the prices. Last time I was there I stopped by after visiting the shedd aquarium and I was talking to the half bald guy with the side burns about the shedd. He said that he's not impressed with the shedd and that the shedd aquarium came to their store asking them how to set up filtration. That is how great they think they are.

this was my first time... they did seem a little " I dont want to be bothered" but my lord were they busy! thats where I bought my little lion and copperband and dwarf angel ... come to think of it... they wouldnt tell me how to care for these so... any help and advise on getting the lion to eat ....

i spent 150 bucks on saturday over there and that is the last time i will ever go back. the owner is not very customer oriented.

i bought a clownfish there and i wanted to choose a healthy one at least and he told me THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO PICK AND CHOOSE. i was like ***? well i went ahead and let him choose or grab one thinking if it dies i would probably get a replacement. well it dies 10 hours later didn't look good in the bag didn;t look good in the quarantine. when i went back he said there'e no guranteed on sale fish, just regualr price fish *** is the difference. so you saying you sell the sickest fish for suckers i guess i was one since the price was cheapo 10 bucks. freaking *******s i'm so ****ed. also 4 outts 6 peppermint shrim died on me same night. something is wrong there. quality control on the sale sucked on the livestock.

my tank has been running for 2 years and all my inhabitants are great corals and all. so it not my tank it the quality i bought.

i would never go back.

I had the same "bad" experience with them. After you buy/pay for the live stock from them, forget about getting refund or exchange if it dies. I do stop by there once a while just to look around when I have nothing interesting to do at home.

I used to work around there and stopped by the store weekly. I started going there when it was SeaShell. Previous owner and staff were great. The current owner and staff definitely have an attitude. I live near LivingSea and once spoke to the Old Orchard owner abou the pros / cons of both shops (to me as a customer) and his response was I don't give a $@&? what they do over there.

I stopped in there on Saturday and things looked much worse than they normally do. If you can get past the attitude, their selection and quality usually are better.

wow

wow

wow i don't go very often. Only when I am in the area. I have always had plenty of help there with out attitude. That sux that so many people feel that way. They let me pick indivudal clowns from a fully loanded tank? Maybe is wasn't so busy. who know ...sorry to hear they are headed down hill

As long as were telling stories here.

My tank, LR, LS, test kits, etc... was all initially bought there as a gift, along with a sizeable gift certificate. As a newbie I had some questions that were answered in complete falsehoods. For example I was told to buy an anemone & pair of true percs @ 2 months in. Not nearly enough lighting for the anemone or space for the true percs.

Last story, I was asking for assistence and three employees argued (feet in front of me), about you was gonna help me. Acting like I wasn't standing right there saying, "i'm not gonna help him", "dude, I'm too f*%&ing busy", "why don't you help him", finally after 30 or so seconds of that one of the guys stepped up and said "long sigh, fine.... what do you want?" Needless to say I was on the brink of throwing the kid in the shark pond but settled for a nice scene.

Never again will even set foot in that dump.

ya. that place does suck. when ive bought fish from them, it was to save the fish from starvation and beatings from other fish that should not have been kept together. Prices are ridiculus. I could say a lot more but I wont. just dont listen to anything Allen says, he is pretty much clueless. he had flatworms infesting one of the reefs and i asked him why he hasnt tried Flatwork Exit. "flatworm what?"

i think they starve the fish on purpose to save money, because the ones that i have saved were extremely thin and with terrible color. I put them in the aquarium and the fish act like they havent eaten in weeks, devouring food like nothing else. a few weeks later and a tray of frozen food and they look good.

prices

prices

I went there on Saturday for their "Superbowl Sale" and I couldn't believe the prices!! There "sale" prices were still more money than I could get most livestock at any other fish store at full price! They are VERY OVER PRICED! I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN! For them thinking that they know so much about reef, how come they only had one small tank with sps? There where only like 4 or 5 Acro's in the entire store? They can't keep them alive?????? I'm very disappointed in there prices and the long drive I drove to get out there!

anyone ever dispute a charge with their cc company from this. i'm thinking of calling them and explaining the situation see what they can do.

I saw one of their installations of a 90 gallon saltwater fish tank. They charged soo much money for the set-up it was sickening, and the filtration that they claimed to be state of the art had a Tidepool wet/dry filter. and if that wasnt enough, the bio-wheel wasnt even installed properly so it didnt spin around. it's amazing what some people get away with.

I got bad experiences there. I may come to take a look but never buy anything from them. Ever. Very unfriendly employees! I would not recommend this store to anyone.

Went there this weekend. Actually, a few employees offered help and spent some time talking and answering my questions (with reasonable answers) even though I was a very small buyer, the kind that wont impact their bottom line. Everyones response in this thread sounds accurate though... looks like my experience was merely a sampling error. Prices sky high (although most new products at LFSs are from my perspective)... so I seldom go there.
