!omg!

ok well i havent cheched my tank in a week
so last night at about 2-3am i went into the kitchen to grab somthing to dring and somthing tells me to chech my tank so i turn on my lights and its like my fish are frozen still.i tested my salinity and it was an .32 so i freaked out and added a crap load of fresh water and its like the fish woke up but now i think im going to loose my purple tang! i want to know what happned ? from last night the purple tang was leaning up next to a rock breathing fast and doing short burst swimming when i added the fresh water

do you mean 1,032sg or do you mean 32 ppt????

If it is 1032 sg then the salinity was high

but if it was 32 ppt then the salinity was low

most refractometers have both scales 1 on each side, it is easy to get confuse.

Check to make sure that the temp is is in the normal range too, as fluctuating temperatures can change your salinity as well.

Did you figured out how did the salinity when up so much? that is kind of weird, did you measured the salinity before you added to your tank? is this your new tank?

Did you mix a fresh batch of saltwater and put it in immediately? (not giving enough time for it to totally dissolve).

Do you have an ATO set up or could evaporation have contributed to the high salinity?
