On lunch break, need quick help!! Clown in trouble.

Gloves are always smart when handling fish...protects you and protects their mucus. Treating with antibiotics may be a good idea. But I don't know if you can add it to the formalin bath.

No clue either.

I could always dip the last week with formalin and then just dose the QT water.

Keep an eye on the sore. If it becomes open formalin is contraindicated. How is his eating?

Haven't tried since she's on the formalin. I'm prepping more water to transfer her into a clean container, regular saltwater QT. Probably on Tuesday. Going to try and feed her then once she adjusts a bit.

I'll check the wound then, if needed treat her then. I'm thinking metrodinizole for the wound since according to the sticky it also treats Brook. Not positive if it covers the right spectrum for a wound.

Upadate.

4/21 Did not treat the water, but did feed both mysis and pellets. She gobbled them up nicely. Looked good later in the day.

4/22 Used Amquel to prevent any ammonia spike with the same Formalin bath as before early in the morning. Looking good. Getting a photo to post in a bit. Was in a rush, no water change today, thus the Amquel to prevent anything since she has been fed. Getting her a new clean home tomorrow and observing.

Should I extend the Formalin treatment out even longer? Or are these daily baths very effective?

Good news on her eating. If you have any vitamins, Selcon etc., I recommend adding that to her food. How long does Quick Cure recommend keeping them in the bath?

Update.

Hmmmm this says three days. Just wondering what everyone else's experience is with treating Brook.

Clown is doing well, joined the main QT tank last week after one last full WC and daily bath with the Quick Cure. The instructions say 3 days is enough, in the end I did a total of 5 days, every other day in the end. Just wanted to make sure they were done.

On the clown, only spot visible is faint area of skin that hasn't regained its full color yet. That was the large lesion in the original photo.

Got her eating mysis with Selcon as suggested.

Still haven't dealt with the main tank yet. :( This weekend looks like it.

I'm very happy to help and am very happy your clown pulled through! You should be proud of yourself a lot of fish succumb to brook. Congrats!
