Once a mated pair

I just lost a perc today and the other looks bad.I cant understand whats going on here.Last night they both looked great and I come home from work and the male was on the bottom of the tank dead.Ive had these clowns for allmost 4 years now and they have lived threw every problem I have had with the tank.Im going to do a fresh water dip on the female tonight and hope this will help her.I was wondering if the female will ever have another mate or if I will ever be able to add another perc to keep her happy so she will have someone to play with?This is driving me nuts since these were the first fish that I've had.

im sure you already did,but test,test,& retest.

I would add some carbon or Chemi-pure to the sump.

Yeah, you need to test water params. Randomly dipping a stressed fish could push it to death.

The only thing I have changed is I added a Aussie Sailfin tang and Ive been adding vitamin C.All my params are in check thats why I cant figure this out.Is it possible for my percs to have Brooklynella?

Did you quarantine the fish before adding it?

The Sailfin was QT at the LFS in a hypo salinity tank.

ok u say the female looks bad......how? describ? parasits? bacterial puffs? heavy breathing? . the fish died and you have its mate alive still.whats the obvious issue with youe remaining clown that makes you want to dip her?

She has white spots like ich but larger.Her skin looks like it has a fungus on it.Her breathing is ok and shes eating well.

sound bacterial. stop doing dips.. keep water quality high...water changes,feed less, add chemi pure, ect.....my clowns get this from time to time and with increase water quality it goes away. its like a cold.

do a search on bacterail infections in clowns
