One more week...

Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
So I know I'm not the only one going back to school... I know some of you teach or attend...

Anyone have any good plans before the dreaded return??? Or any good summer plans for that matter???

Just trying to get the chatter up... Forum has been dead here lately... ;)

I don't know whether to chatter or feel sorry for myself:lol:

I'll guess I'll chatter.

My daughter starts kindergarten Monday......the wifes a bit aprehensive about that one.

I'm in tank redo mode like you except not to the same extent.......and a little behind as Paul can attest to.

I'm determined to go fishing at least 2 more times.

I also want to watch the John Adams series in the next week and get a little more studying done before my first radiology anatomy exam in 3 weeks:eek1:

Hmmm...life isn't going to be all that different for me. I don't go to school anymore (thank goodness) and I don't usually teach until Spring.

I DID however clean the dickens outta my fishtank last night (water changed it BIGTIME and scraped the glass for the first time with a razor blade). I don't think I scratched it yet, but it's only a matter of time.

I know it will sound REALLY jerkish BUT I'm completely NOT looking forward to the students returning. I like to teach and interact with students but since there's so many of them and the campus becomes overrun with them, not to mention the increase in traffic because of them, I just get a little overwhelmed. I'm sure there will be the usual *almost hit a new undergrad who is not watching when they cross the street* and the normal UT rent-a-cops radaring everyone to remind the new students of the posted on-campus speed limits. Well...enough of that...it's the start of a new school year.

I am excited that it's getting closer to Halloween though! I've already started buying a few things here and there (yes, some stores DO have Halloween stuff out, YAY!). There's only 80 days left! I haven't had enough money to go hog wild like I have in previous years, but I've gotten a few little things here and there.

I'm also excited that it is starting to feel like fall. Man...I've been WAITING for fall all summer. It's even coldish on my way to work every morning (on the scooter). I was thinking about wearing a scarf tomorrow (then throwing it in my bag for the afternoon ride). When it's 60 out and you're going fast on two wheels it feels like 50 or so (apparently). So yeah...justified in wearing a scarf? I think so.

After a summer of traveling, I just want to relax before school starts. I visited 5 zoos (one even offered me some really nice frags-- too bad it was in Michigan), 7 states, 13 cities, and have over 100 hours on the road. I need a break from my summer break.

Over the next few days I will be setting up a new tank-- thanks Chris, and you are not behind at all :) I moved into a new house over the summer, so I am still working on getting that situated, furniture arrives in a week or so. Still go to fix the electrical socket that got fried when my return broke over the summer.

I am looking forward to starting school again-- 2 more years then I am pseudo done, then a 3 year residency and I will be a big boy in the real world. not sure how I am going to like being around and the new people in a crowded building, new dean, and the old people I already didn't like. Don't like the fact that I will be getting less financial aid-- darn government laws and regulations limiting student loans.

I am with you Mel on the campus thing.

I am looking forward to the motorcycle safety classes that I signed up for on Sept 6&7. really looking forward to that.

The MSF class rocks the friggin' house. I LOVED it. I've actually been thinking about taking the second class that is basically the same drills but you get to do it on your own bike.

I really want to try to put my scooter (and myself on my scooter) through its paces.

Well I basically redid the 29 tonight.....cleaned rearranged and did almost an entire water change over a few hours. That and took down and cleaned the 40 breeder for Paul. Along the line I fragged several things as well.
It looks like keeping the 29 for a few more months will be easier than taking it down and finding homes for everything.
I also did what I've been putting off for a year or so now. Putting a RBTA in my 120. I'm hoping he doesn't move too much but I know better:rolleyes:
We'll see how it works out.....look soon for an RBTA for sale near you!

HA! I'm back from cali.

One more week for me as well. Orientation begins at the end of next week. So from now til then, I have to pack, move to nashville, and of course, hang out with some ETRC people.

No dreaded return for me this coming semester because I'm on sabbatical - woo hoo!

Of course, that does mean my research output will be expected to be higher than normal or I'll never get another sabbatical, but that's ok. And it does mean my travel schedule will be even crazier than normal, but I'll take that over facing a class of 150 apathetic freshmen who'd rather be playing Halo any day....

I just had a conference in Cairns a week and a half ago and took the opportunity to do some diving on the GBR. Will post some pics in a couple days after the photos are color corrected, etc.
