I just thought I would post this because I'mhaving a hard time with this type of algae. I remove by hand and it still spreads. I've tried everything but nothing works or eats it. I even have 2 yellow tangs, a purple and a powderblue tang but they wont touch it. I read that some of the rabbit or foxfaces will so I got onespot foxface and it is doing a good job so far. Hope this helps someonelse with this type of algae.

Some people have had good success using Kent Tech-M magnesium to raise their mag levels to 1600-1800. There is a thread on here discussing it. They say once those levels are reached it dies off within 3-4 days. I am doing this right now in my tank... My hippo tang is eating some of it too though.

Yep, raising the mag will kill it. Any time I have seen it in my tank the mag has dropped. kick the mag back up and it is gone in days. BTY, sailfins eat it too. They also eat bubble algae. Green mandarines eat flatworms.

I have 500 total gallons of water and have went through 6 bottles of brightwell magnesium and still was only able to get the mg from 1200 to 1420 so I thought if Im spending this money at least I have a nice fish to look at and it will always graze.
