where is the best place to find a good mask, dry snorkel, and fins? Also who makes a good product? I just want them for snorkeling now but am looking to get certified in the near future

a snorkle is a snorkle is a snorkle... if you really want to get into snorkles, do NOT buy one with a bunch of crap at the top of the tube, this makes it top heavy and they wobble around... tusa makes a nice snorkle tat is worthy of spending $40 on. Thats becuase it is flexible and folds up in 1/3's so you can stash it away or sore it in your pocket while you scuba...other than that, simple snorkle for $20 and your fine.

Fins, not such an issue for snorkling but big debates for diving. Split vs Paddle. Split cost more, fancy, pretty colors, easier on the calf muscles, faster top speed. Paddles (think old style GI Joe) heavy, major amounts of thrust, fine control, use to swim backwards, sexy black rubber.
Fins you can buy crap for next to nothing, a decent pair of super generic fins ~$60 to start, good paddle fins like Scuba Pro Jets ~$100, split fins just about any brand ~$175. Appollo have fins that test well in magazines, these cost a little more becuase they come with a stainless steel spring strap instead of a rubber strap. Other brands are now coming from the factory with them, the spring is worth the extra ~$50 more reliable, wont crack and break, wont flop around, wont get tangled in kelp, instant adjustment, no overly engineered complicated latching mechanisms... you can buy spring straps after market and retro fit them to any fins and I highly recommend the springs! For splits, I recommend Atomics...

Mask, do NOT buy online, masks are ALL about fit. Go into a dive shop find a mask and stick it on your face, do not use the strap on the mask to hold it on your face. You should inhale through your nose to cause a suction in the mask, swallow and exhale though your mouth. The mask should continue to stick to your face. It may take some practice breathing through your mouth with no exiting your nose... but you can do it. make sure you shave the day you go mask shopping or theres a good chance nothing will seal. All else being equal, take a look at the atomic masks, and my personal favorite the Scubapro Frameless. The atomics is ~$90 and the SP frameless is about a buck and a quarter. If your face fits all masks equally and you just cant decide, go for the the lowest volume of air possilbe, the glass will sit closer to your face giving you a wider field of view, it will also be easier to clear your mask when it leaks.
