only half the egs hatched

Last night only half the eggs in my last clutch hatched. What would be the cause of that and do you think the rest will hatch tonight. I sure didnt want to have to stay up that late again tonight. I may have shined a flash light on the eggs, would that cause the delay?

Larry, light can definitely cause a delay, I've had a two-night hatch also, but it was more like 10 the first night, and the rest the second night. If the eggs aren't white, and you can see eyes in them, they should still hatch (in my limited experience).

Now put that flashlight away!

I did not peek last night and it appears that only half hatched. However there are more than enough larvae. If none hatch tonight, I won't shed a tear!

This afternoon, all the remaining eggs were mildewed. Oh well.
