Onyx??

Did you see how big they were. There's no way onyx get their colors at such a small size. Plus, they probably weren't with a nem and nem's play a big role in coloration.

Haven't fully onyx... Maybe they will maybe they won't. Whomever bought this pair was desperate or had money to spend... Crazy either way!!! No more than $75 for the pair since it hasn't fully onyx. But beautiful pair.

Those were true percs not onyx true percs. I have some that I raised that are full black at less than 3/4's of an inch. The ones on DD will not fill in.
Did you see their picasso's that they put up last night. They dropped the grading from ORA. The picasso's they put up were hardly B's.

There is no way those should be sold as Onyx. Listings like this are one of the reasons for the dilution of the term Onyx in the hobby. At that size they should definitely be showing more black filling in. The way it's progressing looks very typical for a true-perc. While I'm not arguing the beauty of said fish (they are good looking), I think they put Onyx as a buzz-word in the posting to command a higher price.

@reppo13 - while you are correct that anemones can play an important role in clownfish coloration, true-percs/onyx seem to be opposite from other fish. Some seem to gain more intense black coloration when in a host, but onyx more frequently loose their black coloration. So this argument in this case does not hold true IMO.
