oooh liveaquaria announced a Scribbled Angel pair coming on DD tonight

Michael, Besides the shape of the caudal fin and the size of the white stripe on the face of the fish are there any other ways to tell the difference between male and female?

I have a difficult time telling the difference between the mature females and a young males to be honest. But the big mature males are very easy to distinguish with their amazingly intricate coloration.

they are spectacular and big. I purchased one from DD 2 weeks ago and she is in perfect condition.

Someone is going to be very happy with them.

They are gorgeous. A little too big for me, I'd prefer a smaller pair.... but beggers can't be choosers haha.

If my tank was with me at my new house I definitely would have picked up that gorgeous female that was available last night as well.

Males will always have straight lines from the head to the tail, females (big ones only) will have some lines, but will be "scribbles" and not in any particular order.

All young females will have a solid color in the body. usually grey or a very dark blueish color.

I don't think that is true. My scribbled is 4" now and has a very clear scribbled pattern through out. Could mine be a male if it is only one? I was told there has to be a pair for one to develop to male.

There was a LFS close to me that had a huge 8-10" speciman for sale. I was surprised when I saw it person that it was a female or at least not a full mature male like the one in the pic.

juveniles with show the scribbled, but a large female wont, generally. Submales with have a loose scribbled pattern, but not the full lines.

most of the time, small-large females will be solid in the body.
