A friend of mine has offered to give me his open brain coral (either a wellsophillia or a trachphillia) and i have 260 watts of pc lighting on my 55 gallon. Would it live fine in my system? Also my system is almost a year old so it has cycled and water parimeters are fine.

yes. i just removed a huge open brain from my tank, which was lit by 500W of MH and VHO's. it's now in my friend's tank which is only lit by like 300W of PC and VHO's. u will be fine.

Should be fine. You will need to feed it though. Mysis or small chunks of scallop, shrimp or similar. Once a week about an hour after lights out when his small tenticles come out.

Here's a brain that I had in my nano under 72watts of pc's. No problems open up like a champ.. So I would bet that you would be alright

Ok thats good to know. About the feeding..... they have tanacles that will like catch the food? And the tenacles only come out at night?
