Open Green Brain

Was just wondering if it was plausable that an open brain could eat a domino damsel? I added an open brain about three days ago in my 10 gallon nano, everything was going well, the domino started hosting in the brain, rubbing against it and sitting in it, till this morning, woke up and checked, and the Brain was pretty swollen, and no damsel, looked everywhere, floor, stand, in all the live rock and no sign of him, and about 30 min ago, after the sunset phase of lighting the brain started releasing alot of brown stringy stuff out its mouths, i mean alot and is still doing it, brain still looks healthy, and is starting to open up its tentacles, juts didnt think he would eat a healthy fish. Any answers or suggestions would be great.

it's very possible that it ate the clown. they aren't supposed to be host to fish so the damsel made the mistake and it became supper, it shouldn't hurt the brain.

sry for the loss of your fish.

There is a few post in the LPS section of there Open Brains eating Damsels and I did see one with pictures of it still eating one.

I don't think damsels host anything, so if the damsel was a bit sick and got near enough to the brain---gulp. The brain will probably spit it back out if the damsel was too big, though.

some damsels host: come on now, what do you think clownfish are?

hehe, but yes, some like the domino and I THINK I've heard of the three stripe also hosting...

Thanks for the replys, yea, figured he was swallowed up after a water test, and had no amonia today, bought them cause they were cheap, and being my first saltwater and heard all the its almost impossable thanks for the replys, yea, figured he was swallowed up after a water test, and had no ammonia today, bought them cause they were cheap, and being my first saltwater and heard all the its almost imposable to keep a 10 gallon without tons and tons of maintanace, i just wanted 3 dollar fish, but now has been up and running for almost five months, seems to be going pretty well, 2 fish, 1 pink ricordia, and now the brain and nitrates are almost 99% of the time 0. but what has turned into a small success, has turned into a bigger problem, 1 more 10 gallon and in the works, either a 90 or 125 gallon next month. but once again thanks for the info and the welcome.

not funny
clownfish are damsels, just really pretty ones that aren't as aggressive: unless you look at maroon striped, they are just as nasty.
