i`ve been in the back ground for quite some time now.
reading many fantastic things on here.
i live in england and have kept several different styles of marine tank.
i have the possability of a self build house in the pipe line,
and would love some honest opinions, from a nation that seem to pride there selves on these systems.
now i know your fuel prices are rising all the time but compared the the uk taxing, wow.
with our energy bills doubleing by the day my current plan will be to try to adopt efficency in to my newest plans.
so far i have planned out.
16lx7hx6w (foot) epoxy`d concrete enclosure
with one 12/14x 5 viewing pannel
it will be natural lit through glass roof with 3x 400w lumenarcs supplimenting.
flow will be run by 2x reeflo hammerheads filling 4x 60uk gallon drums 2 each end dumped every 30/40 seconds alternatly through 4x 3" out lets each end.
i understand that flow and light will not be even and there will be several dark areas of the tank but i feel not only will this make it more economicle to run but also creat a more realistic look.
i am currently using large aquamedic skimmers but i am considering some of the larger skimmers on the u.s market.
po4
carbon
calcium reactors will be gravity feed into sunken sumps for geathermal cooling.
also i will use a heat exchange from a 5000gallon koi pond,
heating will be supplied buy a 2-6kw heater.
i am currently working on a solapower system to aid this.
the system will be shelved with diy rock and supplimented with real live rock.
i am also considering going back to using nsw i used this a few years ago with fantastic results. i would have to diy another large prefilter to clear the clarity of the water and run uv for english parasites.
thats a brief discription as to my plans what do you think?]
thanks for reading in i am a little short on time tonight but i could not wait to post:rollface:
