Opinion on TBS rock

I have used TBS rock, and it is really nice! Another company I also really like is International Marine Fish intmarinefish.com

In fact I am picking up 55 lbs of rock from them tonight.. Great prices too.. Only 3.25 - 3.50 including shipping.

Wooglin. How many pounds of rock did you get? The amount looks just right for a 75, which is what i am setting up. Thanks.

You should do about 2lbs per gallon with TBS. I have a little more about 200lbs or so. I also have a 24 gallon nano setup with TBS rock. It is my Mantis tank. I have a 2-3 inch smasher.

There is alot of rock you cant see because the corals have overgrown everything, but yes it weighs about double what tonga or fiji weighs.

It looks well balanced, and just the right amount. I have seen some tanks that look like solid walls of rock, with very little room for fish, or corals to grow.

fareforce I am thinking about International marine fish for some rock. Would you send me a pm and let me know what you think or maybe some pics? Did you get cured or uncured?

i have always gotten my rock from TBS and if you specify the actual inch width of the rock you need to fill a certain space they will comply..additionally to the hitchhikers (good and bad) they like to send free gifts with their shipments a plant here, a cucumber there...just something to let the customer feel good! with my nano tank it was almost bad because their free gifts were too big creatures for my tank (like my brital star that used to knock everything over!)...overall I think it's very worth it and everything arrived very very alive...only issue i have is the corals, some are hard corals and they will swarm your tank and any way you turn the rock there will be more....some that are hard to position just because of the corals....first time years ago ordering they sent me on a piece of rock a 8 inch oyster!!! i didn't even see it until when it got acclimated it just opened up and closed when i looked over and all my rocks fell over!!!! He was my buddy for years! didn't make it to the large new tank, moving has never worked well for me!

i guess i am a purist, but i don't like the idea of using caribbean/floridian live rock for a indo-pacific system.

i try to keep each tank biotope specific, would try the tbs rock for an atlantic system though, i f i ever get around to setting one up.

Thanks for the reply's. The information and opinions have been great. For a newbie like myself, I appreciate it all. It is helping with my decisions on LR. Thanks to all!
