hello everyone i recently got a 155g tank and thinking about having a 55 to 75g sump. my trouble is should i be looking at a pump with a GPH for the tank by its self or tank and sump combined? also which pump would you suggest? i'm on a budget but can always spend more . just looking for more bang for my buck situation.

thanks antonio

Depends on what your plan is. If its strictly a return pump you don't need as much. If you plan on running a reactor or 2 or a seperate line for a fuge, you will need a lot more oomph. For a simple return, I'd bee looking in the 1000-1200gph range, if you want reactors and extra stuff I'd go 1500++. This is from my own experience, my tank is 100 gallons and I run reactors and fuge off my return and 1300gph is barely enough. There are a lot of pumps now that are adjustable so that might be nice too so you can use what you need. Head pressure also is a big factor as well.

I run Jebao DC pumps on all my 4 tanks (240G, 120 G, 60G and 34G) for 2 years, dead quiet and never had any issue.

thanks everyone i'm going to do a little more reading for research. planning on buying a protein skimmer first so can spend a little more on that and then on the pump

You can get about 6-7 jebao pumps for the price of one rd3 now on the same token you can have 13-15 jebao pumps failed and not one rd3 will failed now you be the judge of that

I've owned 4 jebao return pumps with 0 problems. As a matter of fact I bought one that I used for a few years, sold it on fmas, then bought it back from the guy I sold it to, and used it for another 2 years.
