Opinions of Kick Ich?

I've used it in 2 different tanks and had success with it, but I caught it early. Use as directed and keep an eye on your inverts.... I've never lost anything when using it, but still kept an eye on everything just to make sure.

I keep a bottle handy now as part of my emergency kit just in case.

samson - how many doses have you completed so far and what is your dosing schedule (the normal or heavy treatment as directed on the bottle)?

Thanks!

i am just doing the normal dosage. right now i have dosed days 1 and 4 right now im on 5 still waiting for the next dosage day. it seems to be working. the ich on the fish is starting to disappear. if u are able to catch ur fish i would recommend a fresh water dip for 7-8 minutes.

It's my opinion that if something is not strong enough to kill corals or other inverts then it is not strong enough to kill ich........I have has success with Rid-ich but ofcorse that is not reef safe.......hypo and copper work for alot of people..........but if you keep you fish fat and happy ich tends to take care of itself

My fish are fat and happy (were happy)! The tang that first showed signs of ich is more than 7yrs old. He's the largest and fattest of the four tangs. I've had him for 7 years and got him from someone who had him for at least one year. He may have a lower immune system due to old age???

The problem was first noticed several days after I started feeding nori on a clip everyday, sometimes twice a day. The tangs were bumping into each other when ripping the algae from the clip. I was told that tang's skin/protection is much thinner than most other reef fish so by them bumping into each other at the nori clip may be what started the problem and why it's now spread to all four tangs.

I used kick ich and lost 0 inverts. I did however loose the yellow tang i was treating. I can not blame the meds for that, it took me a couple days to get him started and he was stressed out when he got it. i almost has a tank crash and fixed it in the 11th hour.

Invest in separate clips on opposite ends of the tank and one in the middle. Split up the nori......

Tried it long ago... Appeared to diminish the ick but not kill it off completely. I followed the heavy dose. Shortly after I got an algea bloom probably due to the skimmer not running for the treatment time.

I would not use it again and conisder it to be of very little value (if any) in the treatment of ick. My opinion of course.

EDIT: FWIW, I have used copper successfully. I also tried Hypo but never killed it off completely - not sure I went low enough (1.009 but my refractometer might have been uncalibrated when I tried it).

I rather my $350+ in fish die before I even think of taking my tank apart to catch them. My powder blue seems happier with ich than when he didn't have it!

gilu2k used 2 litres of of kick ich when his tank got ich from a powder blue tang. he was really satusfied with the results. u can pm him to know more about the results.

So nobody is going to listen to the one marine biology expert who posted; Greenbean? The active ingredient has not been shown to be effective. Go back and re-read what he said. Fish can often times fight off ich. That is what you guys are seeing. If you are seeing multiple outbreaks the product is not working.

I listened and I won't buy it again unless I have proof its working. The part I am not going to listen to is to completely take apart my tank just to take those fish out. I rather them die than lose $1000's in corals.
