optical sensor leakage detection

Hi,I have 2 optical sensors connected to level 2 via splitter.I have set sensor 2 and 3 to leakage detecion with a responce time of 1s.Ihave mounted these directly to the floor with the sensor facing downards.I had a mini flood on Monday with both sensors getting wet,but there was no alarm. If i take the same sensors and dip them into water in my sump the alarm sounds.Could it be that the sensors are not sensitive enough?????

Were is the splitter connected too?
BTW you can only put a spillter on the one that is called Level 1 & 2, the one on the EX expansion board, doesn't support a splitter, you can only plug one sensor there without the spillter.

Splitter is conected to level sensor port 1/2.As I stated, the sensors pick up water when I "dip" them into my sump.I think that a minor water leak +- 20 L does not form a good enough earth for the sensor to pick up water???On my second profilux conected to my R/O Auto top up system I tried running water over the sensor to stop the solenoid connected to the R/O and it did not work. However when I installed the sensors below my overflow, once the water reached the sensors the solenoid switches off.Its either a sensetivity issue or an earth issue?

the sensors work optically therefore it can`t be a grounding problem

Do the check boxes (not delayed) show the correct state of each level sensor?

I guess there is something wrong with the settings

Check boxes indicate x only for ATO (as sensor is in water)Display shows - for sensor 1 and 2 , x for sensor 3 which is in water.

I will check tonight.Thank you for your speedy response. This is why I have 2 profilux controllers!!!Back up is awsome. Can't wait for sms modules 15 November 2008.

Hi Matthias,
Had my laptop connected whilst running the profilux control program on the level sensor menu.I dipped each sensor connected to level 1/2 via splitter individually into the water in my sump and the check boxes changed and the alarm went off like it should have.I then added some water on the floor and dipped, rolled and splashed the sensors with water and the check boxes did not change and the alarm did not go off.No other changes were made to the program.
I then went to my salt water and r/o drum where I have a different pair of sensors connected to my second profilux connected via level 1 and level 3.I ran water over the sensors and there was no alarm. As soon as I dipped them into the water the alarm went off.I also took some r/o water and dipped them into a cup and there was no alarm. Please advise.

So this means the sensors are working in principle and the settings are OK.
I guess there must be a minimum amount of water until the sensors recognize it, some water on the floor is too less for the optical reflection. Unfortunately I see no option to change there something.
Some of our customers use "leakage pan" (I hope the translation from German is correct) and have the sensor in there.

BUT: We are planning are dedicated leakage sensor which works with the electrical resistance of water. More to come soon.
