Optimum water level for ASM G3 Skimmer

Does anyone know the optimum water level for an ASM G3 Skimmer?

6-8 inches. I get a very consistent skimmate the pass month.

I currently have it at about 12 inches, but I don't think it's producing as much skimmate as it should.

How long have you had it for? It usually take about a week to break in and produce good skimmate. Also many mods out there for ASM to get it cranking.

How would the sump water level affect the inside of the skimmer? As long as its getting enough air and the water level inside the skimmer is adjusted to the approriate height, I don't see how the sump water level would change performance?
