Options for Manjos/Aiptisa Control??

So like to title says, I am looking for options to rid my tank of nuciance manjos/aiptisa. I have tried Kalk Paste, Joes Juice, Racoon Butterfly all with the same results. It keeps comming back.

I think the the Raccoon was the best untill he ot sucked up too a power head intake over night and died.

But with all Butterflys they are hit or miss with the ating of the aiptisa. I also run a mixed reef that is about 50% SPS 25% Zoo's 25% LPS (Acans). So I am afarid of adding something that will attack these.

So what are my options for this without pulling all my rock and cooking it? Thanks Tim

I use the old fashion kalkwasser w/ lime and hit them manually. Its a pain but I'd rather not risk any corals to a fish. I heard copper band butterfly tangs do the job and the famous TRUE peppermint shrimps. I know there are other shrimps that look like them that don't. I guess I got the wrong peppermints cause mine head all year! I saw them once and I had them for a year!

Thanks for sharring your good info. It was noted that the button stuc, creating a double/possible triple post. But thanks for bringing this in and keeping in on track!!!!!

have you tried injecting with vinegar?

have had friends who had super luck with that

Take a couple tablespoons of Dow Flake dissolved in a cup of hot RO water and inject with needle. Worked for me.

I tried the peppermints to no avail, I got a couple trio packs of the berghia nudis and added a copperband. I am seeing a slight decline.

The Berghia will work but it is a slow process and not 100%, only about 99%. Copperbands are hit and miss and likewise hit and miss on being reef safe.

I used the Stop Aiptasia with good results so far. However, it was only Sunday when I did it. We'll see if they come back. I'm sure they will, because it is just about impossible to get them all. No matter how anal you are. As long as there is one left, they will come back. The question I have is what causes them?

get a good syringe, fill it with boiling water (wear gloves!), aim at the sucker and squirt, sometimes you see them ooze out, literally melting the sucker, be careful of surrounding corals. i'd have my other hand close to wave around so the hot water releaseed in the water column gets dissipated out quick. this is a great way to kill them. For future spread, run UV sterilizer....
