My LFS got in a group of ORA manderins. I saw them eating pellets off the bottom. Is anyone having success with them. I have read a lot of differing opinions. Are they getting more successful with newer generations of fish ?
Absolutely! Of course the mandarin would have to be the only fish in the tank since they compete poorly for food. Oh, by the way, once a day feeding won't cut it for a fish that has a metabolism designed to eat constantly.

I'd wait until I was able to be around the tank morning and night. I have a pair of clowns in the tank, but I'm sure I can figure out a way to keep them at bay... (typically just leasing some cyclopeeze into the tank flow drives them crazy and keeps them busy for awhile) while I feed the mandarin via airline tubing (assuming they will take to being fed out of airline tubing)

The lovely thing about mandarins is they are the one fish you don't have to feed - just keep the pods maintained. Much easier than the ordeal of trying to set up a way to get them fed in a community or even a species tank multiple times a day.
My ORA Manadarin eats Artic-Pods. not sure if its a normal diet, but my LFS guy suggested it... Not only does my Mandarin eat them, EVERYTHING else in my tank seems to go nuts for them.
