The Bluest of the Blue! Named constantly as one of the must haves in any SPS tank. The infamous ORA Oregon Tort :) My little coral is nothing compared to some of the other colonies on the board, but I am very proud of it!:bounce1::bounce1::bounce1:

Not to say it isnt one, but I remember oregon torts were a mix of blue and purple.

Sure thats not a cali tort? Thats what it looks like to me based on color.

But whatever it is, nice!!!

Hi Sponger0,

Hope all is well!

This is the absolute real deal. This came from an owner of a LFS. Every ORA coral from him was purchased directly from ORA. I have also had him place ORA orders for me. ORA receipt with corals still in original packaging. I completely understand your skepticism. On another forum, the green base was called into question. There was another long time reefer that was able too validate that the ORA Oregon Tort does aquire a green base in certain conditions. Fortunately, I am getting the solid blue coloration back. Now I just need to sit back and be patient. I also agree that there is some purple in the color. The pic on the ORA site shows it very well.

Thanks for your feedback. I sincerely appreciate it!

Warmest Regards,
James

No problem. I had both a cali and oregon. So they do look different. But both have beautiful blue colors. Maybe its due to lighting conditions and different color morphing.

Thank you for having an open mind :) I also have the cali tort. Its a tiny guy though. I will continue to provide growth pics of this coral. The next update will be closer to christmas. Hopefully I will have developed the purple hue by then.

Warmest Regards,
James

Yea the oregon tort is a nice piece. I miss mine but my anemone decided to take it out.

And havent been able to find any locally.

Cali tort is very abundant though.

That seem like some pretty fast growth for an oreogn tort. Also agree it looks like a cali tort, which would explain the fast growth. I could be wrong, I was last timne with the other thread....shall we ask travis again? lol

I can say the same about SE Michigan. :) Sorry about your frag. You never know when the anenome feels like its time walk across your prized corals. As a former OT owner, I look forward to your future feedback.

Nice piece, but I thought Oregon torts were bluer? This looks more turquoise green?

Is ORA's a different color variety?

Your very welcome, Basser! Who ever thought Oregon Tort could be so dramatic :)

Here are some pics of some of my other torts:

I've never known either Oregon to have any green in them, judging by the color and rate of growth I'd say that's the Cali. Either way it's a beautiful coral :D

Hi James, really love your tank!
I run a similar system with the blue glow frag racks and also utilize some zeovit :)
What bulb combo do you run mate?
Thanks!!

Thank you for the kind comments Ian. :) The green base seems to be quite the mystery when it comes to the ORA Oregon Tort. Some folks say it exists, and some folks say it doesn't. Above, I provided a link to a pretty good thread that discusses the different color variations of Oregon Tort. Either way, I love my coral and hope it remains healthy and happy!

Edit: I completely forgot to mention in my posts that the green does dissapear at a faster rate when I dose ZEOSpur 2. I will post some more pics in a couple months. I hope to have your continued feedback.

Warmest Regards,
James

Hi Charlie,

Hope all is well!

I like the Blue Glow/ZEOVit combination. Andy made three custom racks that span my entire tank. I am a full ZEO user and love to play with the additive combinations. When I dosed my ZEOSpur, the green coloration in the Oregon Tort dimminished.

My pics can be deceiving when you think about my bulb combination. When I take the pics, I use a grey card for white balance. If I were to take the pics in full auto mode, the color is pure blue. Here is the bulb combo I currently use:

ATI Blue+
ATI Blue+
ATI Actinic
Aqua Blue

As of Monday, I will have this bulb combination:

ATI Aquablue
Giesemann Midday

Warmest Regards,
