ORA Picasso clowns

Anyone have an estimated price on them? I've been looking for some different clowns to put in my tank, when I saw these I almost fell over.

..Like i always said, i dont think there are any like the ones that came off the ORA website..I know there are no tours of the hatchery, but can you give someone money there to let you see the clowns?

to expect the F1 generation to look exactly like parents is not realistic. its a "compromise" btn the parents. the babies will not look exactly like the mother, or exactly like the father. its a compromise. ive kept and have seen over 20 picassos and most babies exhibit characteristics displayed in the male, but not completely. im sure there is also a percentage of picasso babies that look like the female with completely traditional patterns. most forget that the female has a "say" in this clown mating ritual and she displays traditional perc pattern. so there is a ratio of dev. which follows the female traditional pattern.

for ex. there are many owners of onyx pairs, but most will never yield good quality onyx babies. if this was predictable, there would be alot more onyx/picasso breeders in the hobby.

so to expect the F1 generation to look exactly like the male only is not being realistic. Ora s reputation in the hobby is worth more to them than to create a myth with a pair of clowns to make a profit.

i anticipate ORA to push there clown breeding program beyond the picasso clown in the upcoming year.

cost? thats a variability that is dependant on your lfs. currently cost range $45 - 125.

jigsaw from europe? i m curious where this person got that name.

i MADE UP THAT NAME this past winter as seen in my avatar. i named it jigsaw, just as some would call there dog , "lucky" its funny how some people started to assume its a "special" breed of clowns, when in reality its just a name i called my odd clownfish. :)

no complaints of course. the memory of my clown lives on. :)

I see them every day. Send the money to my email addy. :) j/k

If you took the time to search RC for threads on these fish, you might be more informed. Each fish is unique unto themselves. Though, there is one F1 that has his Daddy's square patch on his cheek. But it's on his right cheek, where the original has it on the left. The F1 is very happily spawning on a regular basis.

Embryoguy.

Jigsaw clowns are also the name used by some LFS to describe TMC Snowflake Ocellaris over here in Japan. I suspect that is the Europe connection. Jigsaw works in Japanese, it is the same word and quite descriptive of the TMC clowns. A direct translation of the English into Japanese (Snowflake/snow=Yuki) doesn't work, and people would expect an all-white clown with that descriptor.

What do you get when you breed one with a specific pattern with it's mother? Would the fry still have random patterns? If not, would breeding 2 of those fry together give a repeat of their pattern?

I dont even know anymore..my guess is somebody at ORA was bored..and photoshoped the clowns to look the way they do..Its all a hoax..back to work everybody..LOL..JK

But seriously..As far as i heard not all of the fry displayed the patters the parents have, apparently some came out as regular percs.
