Cyclopeze the more the better IMO my fishsitter fed frozen cyclopeze only to my tank for a month and i came home to my clowns having much more black. i still vary their diet.

honestly...i dont think feeding plays much of a role in their coloration...it has to be dominant genes.

It does have to be in their genes, but there are environmental factors as well. The ability to have a lot of black is certainly genetic, but the proper environment (water conditions, food, host anemone) also play a factor. I have had several percs lose most of their black when put into one tank only to get it back when transfered to another.

There are some percs that will not get a lot of black no matter what the conditions. They just don't have it in their genes.

This has nothing to do with the point but, have you ever noticed in wild pictures that percs in H. magnifica rarely have much black.

i'm going to switch their diet almost exclusively to ORA glo and Cyclopeeze

Heteractis Magnifica (aka magnificent or ritteri anemone). They need strong alternating flow, intense MH lighting and stability. The key for success is to findind a healthy one in the first place. They can get to be pretty large but nonetheless a beautiful anemone. I wouldn't try keeping one until you have kept a few other "easier" anemones with success.

Any updates on your picassos? How is that ORA/cyclops diet working out for you?

it turns out i'm too lazy to feed them strictly those two foods
i'm feeding them formula 1 and 2, plus ora glo and occasional cyclopeeze. they're blacks are starting to fill in, to what extent i'm not sure of

Helfrich's Chic, did you ever find out which food that is? My ORA picassos don't have any black yet. :-(

ORA glo worked for my picassos black as well. I received them with little to no black and within a week of feeding ORA glo they started developing black.

Mine don't seem to like the pellets. They are spitting them out. :-(

Are they possibly too big for them? Mine would do that and I just broke it up into smaller pieces.

In order to feed pellets to my clowns, I have to crush them up pretty well. They absolutely LOVE frozen food though.

It's worth a try. I'll try it. Do the ORA Glo pellets make that big a difference? Are they worth the extra $$$?

its not that expensive...i buy the smallest bag and it lasts me a while.
